Shelter Magazines for April 2011!

March 11th, 2011

I am obsessed with shelter magazines. Just ask my husband and he will confirm this. Of late, with the economic down-turn and the onslaught of on-line publications, the old fashioned, hold-it-in-your-hands, print versions of magazines seem to be endangered. The April 2011 issues of two of my favorite magazines, Architectural Digest and House Beautiful have dispelled this fear. Architectural Digest, with Margaret Russell at the helm, is better than ever.

Richard Shapiro's Malibu Retreat, Architectural Digest

The feature on Richard Shapiro’s new Malibu retreat is a must see. The stunning property he created is worth dreaming about. Grand, comfortable, old, new, casual, elegant, refined, rustic are all words to describe his spaces. The obvious contradictions are perfect here! The master photographer, Miguel Flores-Vianna provides us with a beautiful view inside and out.

House Beautiful’s April 2011 issue is equally impressive. The feature on a home in Northern California by Interior Designer, Myra Hoefer, gives us a view of the bold and always unique spaces created by this talented lady. Ms. Hoefer’s interiors always intrigue while possessing a quality of livability that I find to be just wonderful. The entry and dining spaces are amazing.

While I am enjoying on-line publications like RUE Magazine to name one and am constantly scouring the ever growing design blog world, I am happy to know that the print magazine is alive and well this Spring!
